Lydia Says Hello

(...and yes, apparently it is possible to pop popcorn in the bathroom - if you're three and the possessor of a crazy imagination...just in case you were wondering!)

Iris, watching a commercial advertising Halloween products:

Hey Mommy! I think those Halloween things are very grumpy because they need God.

Out of the mouths of babes...

Me: Hey Iris...why don't you put your sister's socks on her feet.

Iris: (indignantly) But I CAN'T put her socks on! I'm NOT a MOM!!

Alrighty then...

Way Down Yonder in the Pumpkin Patch...

We ventured out to the Rombach Farms Pumpkin Patch this past Saturday. Is there any place that shouts IT'S FALL! more than a pumpkin patch? The experience never gets old no matter how many times we go. It actually gets even more thrilling every year, I think, as the girls get bigger. What a great place to celebrate my favorite season of all!

Our little ladies had sooo much fun:

And here's some cute video footage of Lydia walking:

"I" is For Iris

Who's the smartest little girl we know?

It's Iris! It's Iris!

Can you believe she wrote the letter "I" all by herself without any prompting or help from mommy or daddy? We're so proud of our absolutely brilliant lovely!

For a Good Cause...

Yesterday, we had the privilege of visiting a pink fire engine which was making a stop at a nearby shopping plaza as part of the Pink Ribbon Tour 2008.

Although super excited initially, Iris was a little apprehensive about checking out the fire engine once we arrived on the scene. But that apprehension began to fade a bit once her brave, adventurous friend N. arrived and didn't waste any time hopping right up there in truck. Suddenly that big pink fire engine looked like just a fun place to play - nothing scary about it. What a difference a friend makes!

Once again, our elusive lady succeeded in managing to NOT look at the camera for any pictures. But picture taking aside, don't you love the way she coordinated her shirt and shoes with the pink interior of the truck? Her fashion sense is spot on. Nice!

Lydia wasn't quite sure what to think about all the excitement. I mean, really, a fire engine? And a pink one no less? She felt that maybe the fireman hats were more up her alley.

I think fun was had by everyone. How often do you get the opportunity to see - and touch! - a pink fire engine? It's a girl's dream come true!

OVERHEARD

Daddy! Hey Daddy! Mommy uses that...THAT SPATULA to spank my bottom AND scoop my ice cream!

Um.

What can I say?

It's a multi-tasking utensil.

Heigh Ho, Pinkie Pie, Away!

...And so Cowgirl Iris (that ever-vigilant protector of peace in the Wild West), along with her faithful sidekick, Lone Star Lydia, jumped on her trusty horse - in fast pursuit of some mischievous outlaws trying to make their escape on the trail just up ahead....
