Pretty in Pink

Sunday Afternoon

We ventured down to Old Town St. Charles after the girls' nap today. It's so interesting walking around mingling with the throngs of people and peeking into all the quaint little shops that line both sides of the street. And Old Town is especially fabulous at this time of year because of all the amazingly beautiful holiday displays that crowd the windows and spill out onto the sidewalks. I always think the Christmas spirit is a little more concentrated down in Old Town!

We never ever make a trip without getting yummy ice cream! It's definitely a family weakness, I must say.

The girls LOVED playing in this gazebo. They had quite a time running up and down the steps and letting their imaginations go wild pretending to be princesses and mad king and monsters.

Oh, and we're super excited too because while we were wandering around we noticed that they are in the process of setting up a makeshift ice skating rink down by the river. We're hoping we'll get a chance to try it out over Thanksgiving weekend! How fun would that be?

Miss Artiste

Iris has been flexing her drawing muscles of late, and I just had to share some of her latest examples:

This one is Iris and Daddy holding hands. Notice that she is red because she likes red, and Todd is blue because he likes blue. Isn't his little beard cute?

And this one portrays our whole family hanging out by a tree. Again, we're all color-coordinated according to our favorite color which I think is so funny! Of course, no family portrait is complete without blankie(black) and Poochie (brown).

I'm so incredibly thrilled that she is big enough to actually be drawing recognizable things now. How cool is that? I love, love, LOVE it! I'm totally going to be the mom that saves every piece of artwork and schoolwork that my girls bring home. It's so much fun...I don't know how I'd ever decide what to throw away!
