Weekend at the Lake

We went to Milford Lake in Kansas this past weekend to spend some nice quality time with Todd's family. Luckily, both our little lovelies are great travelers. This makes long trips so much more enjoyable!

The babies were so cute hanging out together, and Iris had a fabulous time playing with her cousins. She even learned how to pedal a Big Wheel - next up is her bike (yay!). We're so proud! And, of course, they spent lots of time swimming.

Both girls absolutely loved being on the boat. Lydia laughed and bounced up and down as we skimmed over waves. She liked trying to reach out and touch the spray. Iris got to go on a minor rescue mission with Daddy and Grandpa Tom on Saturday when Uncle Chad's boat broke down on the water. Pretty exciting!

We really enjoyed our visit to the lake. It brought back good memories of younger days, and we liked that our girlies were able to share the experience with us. Todd and I agree that an end-of-summer lake trip may have to become a new family tradition!

It SHOULD be a new family end of summer tradition. Every new picture you post of the girls is sweeter than the last. For some reason the black and whites and the photos of them on the beach seem so nostalgic looking. Like old fashioned photos. Maybe they have old souls? Or the way they are taken? Either way, Iris and Lydia are both just sweet as can be. We can not wait until you guys come here! You should probably start warning them that Auntie Emi is going to be hugging them. (My no hugging policy is only in affect for grown ups, not sweet babies!)

Just when I think we should chuck that camera that sucks (a pair of batteries per outing) it goes and takes some pictures like that...and completely redeems itself.

Oh - I can't wait to hear about your trip. It looks like everyone had a great time. I had to agree with Emily about the black and white photos - there is just something about them! I also had to laugh about her hugging comment. You two seem like two peas in a pod!
Thanks again for letting us borrow your truck while you were gone. It was a HUGE help. I gave it a little bath before we returned it -Hope that was alright!

Sarah-It was totally no problem for you to borrow our truck! We're glad to be of help - it sounds like you were able to get all your dirt hauled and even some of the play set up! Very exciting! In no time at all it will be finished. Yay!

Giving truckie a bath is always alright! Thanks!

those pics really ARE adorable!!! i'm SO glad you guys had FUN!! what a nice end of the summer thing!... okay, todd's comment reminded me of that scene in "dumb and dumber"--you know what i'm talking about??... after jim carrey trades in the dog-mobile for a little motor scooter "thing," the other guy (can't remember his name) says, "just when i think you can't get any dumber, you go and TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!" funny:)
